How a Media Player Works

1. You provide your own playlist

Once a playlist is loaded, the application arranges the entries it contains into a clear, on-screen menu. This makes it easier to browse and open the items you have added, using a layout suited to a television remote.

3. Optional program guide (EPG)

If a playlist includes electronic program guide (EPG) data, a media player can display schedule information next to each entry, so you can see what a listing refers to at a glance.

4. It works across common devices

Players of this kind are typically designed to run on popular smart-television and mobile devices, keeping the on-screen experience consistent from one screen to another.
